A relay race of 1092 miles is being organised in America to be run in July next. No fewer than 14,000 competitors are contesting for 4000 places. The race will start from New York City Hall, and by a circuitous route will reach the Chicago City Hall, where the. last runner will handle the Mayor a torch and a letter of greeting ’from the New York Mayor. The runners will have to cross rivers and lakes. There are no prizes, except tiie. great effort, to beat the record of a similar race run in 190'8, which took over 16 hours.
