DISMISSAL OF EX-POUNDKEEPER.
CTo the EdltorJ Sir, —On inquiring from a councillor the other day for work, having been out of same for some weeks, I was told that when I had work I did not know how to look after it; and as this reply, coming from the; gentleman in question, apparently refers to my services being dispensed with by the Borough Council, I would respectfully ask that body through the medium of-your .papfir the particular acts of negligence or incompetence I was accused O'f, and in .which I; must have failed to do my duty. I have frequently been asked why I was sacked, and 1 can truthfully say that no justifiable explanation has reached me. I certainly think that I am entitled to the same, and would welcome any definite accusations o'f incompetence or neglect from the Borough Council. Surely, when a borough Council dismisses an employee, especially when he has a young 'family to keep, proved reasons should be given for his dismissal from his job. Although by no means a remunerative occupation, I would hereby request that particular councillor, or councillors, who were responsible for the accusations that brought about my dismissal to, through your columns, enlighten me, and also the general public, who apparently are interested in the matter. JAMES CAPILL.
