A Thames boy who ran away from home on Saturday had his escapade brought to an inglorious end a ifew hours later (says the Thames Star). He boarded an early train en route to Hamilton, but his parents anticipated his intention and he was located by the stationmaster at Te Aroha. and brought back to Thames on the eventing special race train by Constable. Reilly. The little fellow, wlm had packed all his worldly trQpsures into a small and bulging cardboard box, made a pathetic figure, and the brown eyes (ft some. Maori passengers melted sympathetically as they profiferqd him gifts of cake and chocolate. He also carried a small-size air-gun, presumably to replenish the larder should provisions run short in the uncertain future. Two members of the Police Force boarded the train at Thames South and, on arrival at Thames, the little adventurer was honoured by an escort of the sergeant and two constables, al'l in full-dress uniform.
Toasted tobacco ! “What’s the great idea ?” you may ask. Well, if you have not yet tried what toasting will do 'for tobacco leaf you’ve a pleasure in store. AH our well-known New Zealand grown tobaccos are toasted in the making. This develops their flavour and aroma, just as .the toasting (or roasting) of coffee or cocoa beans brings out the flavour and fragrance. These tobaccos are the purest on the market, la.rgely because they contain so little nicotine, while the imported brands are all more or less loaded with it. Now do you see why the doctors recommend New Zealand tobacco ? The proof of the pudding is in the eating, and the proof df the "weed” is in the smoking. Those who try the New Zealand tobaccos quickly get to prefer them to all others hence their constantly increasing saje everywhere. You can get them in any strength. Riverhead Gold, a beautiful aromatic; Navy Cut, a choice medium ; and Cut Plug No. 10, a fine full-flavoured variety. Cavendish Mixture, medium, is,the latest addition.*
