DISTRICT NEWS.
PATETONGA. CHILDREN’S BALL. The PMetonga Public Hall presented a gay appearance when the. Patetonga district library held, their annual juvenile fancy dress ball on Tuesday, January 11. There was a large number present, and the costumes, were many and varied. The ball opened with the grand march, and as each child was presented with a coloured balloon the. scene was rather striking.
Two special items were the solo dancing by Miss Beryl darken, of Auckland, and the dancing df the Roger, de Coverlqy by the children present. A Cinderella dance put on before midnight caused quite a lot o'f fun.
After supper the adults took the floor, and dancing continued until 2 a.m. Mrs Alfred Pearson supplied excellent music, while extras were played by Mrs Tayor, Miss Mayn, and Mr L. Hunter. The duties of M.C. wer e > ably carried out by Mr. Jack Christie. ThQ following are a few of the fancy costumes : Miss Betty Alderson (■fairy), Miss Sheila Hunter (ballot dancer), Miss Clare Hunter (bubbles), Miss Dorothy Hunter (balloons), Miss, Phyllis Hunter (folly), Miss Breyl darken (red roses) Miss Reid (dawn), Miss Joan Taylor (Iceland poppy), Miss Beatrice. Taylor (Old English), Miss Mary Moana (an art student), Barry Hunter (Jack and the Beanstalk), Tommy Taylor (Peter Pan).
