GAIETY THEATRE PICTURES. TO-NIGHT. THE LUCKY LADY. In "The Lucky Lady," a story of the mythical kingdom of San Guido, almost half the action takes place in the famous gambling casino. Because it is one of the tourist spots of Europe and thousands of people in the United States are familiar with its architecture and surroundings, technical experts spents many weeks making the motion picture’s setting perfect in every detail. RIDING FOR A KING. Captain Snowden, a wealthy young man, is not looked upon with favour by the father of Lady Betty Raleigh. The. Lady Betty, however, is in love with Snowden, who is rather fond of gambling on the races. He owns a couple of racehorses, and has staked his fortune on the winning of Bonadventure in the coming race meeting. Lady Betty is annoyed to think that he has risked all, but when she learns the reason she tries to get Steve Baxter, a famous jockey, to ride the horse. He, however, has to go to Paris to ride ‘’for a king.” Betty does some planning, and just before the race Baxter arrives by aeroplane and rides Bonadventure to victory. PANTOMIME IN PAEROA. "OLD MOTHER HUBBARD.” It is some years since the mast popular of all entertainments —Pantomime—has been presented in Paeroa, so playgoers will look forward eagerly to the. production of “Old Mother Hubbard” by the. Stanley McKay Pantomime and Opera Co. at the Gaiety Theatre on Wednesday next, February 2. Amongst the clever combination of some 30 English and Australian artists are the Four Little. Kellys, a quartette < f little girls ranging in ages from eight to twelve, years, whose musical act is recognised by the critics of Auckland and Wellington as the finest that has over visited New Zealand. The comedians include Claudie Stewart Australia’s funniest girl; Frank Perryn, English charactor actor ; and Arthur Meredith, the funniest o'f Dames. Laurie McLeod is the handsome principal boy, who falls in love with charming Madeline Knight, principal ■= girl. Other prominent parts are filled by Will Raynor, magnificent tenor; Jack Raymond, dancer and singer ; Georgie Martin, comedienne ; Walter George, producer ; and May Broooke. instru■mei/a’ist.
