Serious concern was felt in the Te Mata district on Sunday, when 'it became known that the five-year-old son of Mr G. Corneilly (of Port Waikato) had been lost, on Mr Van Route’s property. Seach parties were organised, and it was not until over 18 hours afterwards that the child was found in a bad state some five or six miles from the homestead. On Saturday morning the boy’s father and uncle went out to get a pony, some distance a,way, and, unknown to them, the child folloowed and became lost. ’ He was not missed until 10.30 a.m., when search parties' set out to comb the surrounding country. At 4.30 a.m. on Sunday the child was found by his father and a Maori at a distance of five or '.six miles 'from the homestead. In his wanderings the child had traversed much heavy country, and when found was suffering severely from cold, being unable, to speak. It is reported that he is now recovering.
