A PETTY CASH ACCOUNT.
OPERATED BY HOSPITAL MATRON.
DISCUSSION BY WAIHI BOARD.
A brief but warm discussion as. to the petty cash account operated by the matron of the hospital (Miss Lord) arose at the monthly meeting Vf the Waihi Hospital Board on Tuesday evening last, Colonel Jowsey introducing the matter by stating that now the board possessed a managing secretary it was no longer, necessary for the matron to have a petty cash account.
Dr. Cole pointed out that sometimes patients who left the hospital on Sundays paid the matron, whereupon Colonel Jowsey remarked that apparently the medical superintendent did not understand him. He (the colonel) was referring to a petty cash account, a totally different matter to what the doctor was speaking of.
A somewhat headed interlude followed between the doctor and the colonel, the latter, protesting against what he termed the lack o'f business methods adopted by the board.
In reply to an inquiry it was stated that the petty cash account in question was to the value of £2, but no one was clear as to what It was actually for, and it was finally decided that the matter be left in the hands of the medical superintendent and the secretary to ascertain the. position. \
