PUBLIC WORKS FUNCTION.

FAREWELL TO MR. F. W. BUTLER.

Prior to leaving the Public Works Department to take up an appointment, as borough engineer at Waihi Mr F. W. Butler received a presentation from the staff of the local office of the department <>n Saturday. In handing Mr Butler a Loewe pipe and tobacco pouch Mr O. G. Thornton, resident engineer, referred to the esteem in which the recipient was held. He expressed sincere regret that Mr Butler was leaving the department and Paeroa, and wished him every success and prosperity in his profession at Waihi.
