DELAY BY DEPARTMENT ALLEGED

POWER BOARD RECORDS PROTEST

Commenting on the failure eft electric power supply in the Matamata area, at Tuesday’s meeting of the ■Thames Valley Power Board, Mr J. Price moved that the board point out to the electrical branch of the Public Works' Department the seriousness of the repairs and restoration of service not being carried out more expeditiously.

The. engineer (Mr N. G. McLeod) said that although he had not been present at the scene of the breakdown near Matamata when it occurred last month he was of the opinion that undue delay He contended that the breakdown should have been repaired in about a couple o'f hours.

In seconding the. resolution Mr F. E. Flatt said he would like to add that in the event of the department not having a sufficient staff available to carry out repair work Quickly, the board’s officials be called upon to assist.

This was agreed to by the' mow and the resolution was carried.
