The ; suggestion of the special finance committee that the privilege given to consumers, to erect their own poles be discontinued was adopted at yesterday’s meeting of .the Thames Valley Electric Power Bjoard. The Turua Public Hall Company has reason to be pleased with its decision to run the motion pictures itBeir. Last Saturday evening the hall was packed to overflowing on the occasion of the screaming of a special programme. On the second evening of the Catholic Church bazaar held at Ngajtea recently a pleasant little ceremony took place when, on beh'alf of the Catholic community, Mr E. C. Barribal presented Mr J. Neate with a silver teapot, a silver-mounted shaving mug, and a silver-mounted shaving brush hjs a small token of appreciation of his services as M.C. for the many dances held at Ngatea aiid other places on the Plains during the winter in aid of the church building funds.
