OBITUARY
MB. THOMAS PARKINSON. The death took place at the Hawera Hospital on November 30 of Thlomas Parkinson, an old resident of Hawera and well-known Maori War veteran, at the ripe old h.ge of 90 years. Mr Parkinson came to New Zealand: in 1862 in the Matilda Wattenback. He landed at Auckland and settled in the ■Waiuku district, where he was, engaged in farming. He was a keen volunteer, and served in the Maori ' War. He went to Taranaki about 38 years ago. His 'family includes five ; sons and one daughter. They are William Thomas (Hawera), Andrew (Auckland), Charles (Paeroa), Benjamin and Frederick (Waverley), and Mrs Christie (Gisborne). He had 22 grandchildren and 'four great-grand-children. _ '
