A NETHERTON ESTATE.

MEETING OF CREDITORS.

A meeting of creditors in the bankrupt estate of Hugh Randolph Hobart, of Netherton, farmer, convened on a requisition of creditors, wap, held in the Courthouse, Paeroa, on Friday last for the purpose of further examination of the bankrupt. The creditors present or represented were the Hauraki Plains County Council (Mr E. A. Mahoney), tne Thamds Valley Electric Power Board (by proxy), Mr H. P. Gillard, and Mrs M. F. Hobart (Mr J. B. Beeche). Mr Mahoney was elected chairman of the meeting. Bankrupt’s statement and the evidence given by him in Auckland were read by the, chairman. Mr Hobart was examined by Mr C. N. O’Neill on behalf of Mr Gillard. The examination chiefly concerned an electric motor which had been removed from the farm, and it was ascertained that this was under bill of sale to Mrs Hobart, bankrupt's mother, together with aU live stock and chattels which had been on the farm. Bankrupt was also questioned concerning some shares in the N.Z. Cooperative Dairy Co., Ltd., which he believed had been transferred by him to his wife in consideration df payment by her of a c,all made by the company.

Mr O’Neill then called on Mr Gillard to give evidence concerning the details of the purchase of the fam by Mr Hobart, and concerning the condition df fences, drains, and rushes. Witness stated that he. had ascertained the shares referred to were; still in bankrupt’s name, the transfer to Hobart not having been registered.

Bankrupt cross-examined witness as to the; condition of .the farm when he first acquired it. Mr O’Neill then moved a resolution that it be a recommendation to the Official Assignee that the shares’ standing in Hobart’s name be transferred to M'r Gillard, and a further resolution that it be a recojnmendajtion to the Official Assignee that steps be taken if possible to recover the electric motor for Mr Gillard, as he would have to pay the balance of the Power Board’s account. The chairman declared these resolutions carried, Mr Beeche voting against them.
