DISTRICT NEWS.

KAHIEBE. CONCERT; The concert held recently at Kaihere in aid of the hall funds was a great success, both artistically and financially. Those actively associated with the production were. Mesdames Wallace and Whitwell, .the Misses J. and B. Wallace, and MY J. H. Whitwell. MrsiL. Clark (pianist) and Miss H. Tizard' (violinist) provided the incidental music.

A ballet of six girls of the district lent vim to the function by theii spirited rendering of the latest popular numbers. The items by the school children were especially interesting and beautiful. These were for the. most part of the old English era, including the Maypole .and Huntsmen, s Chorus. The dressing was typical of the era represented, and let itself to beautiful effects. The concert is to be repeated in Patetonga at at early date.

The-following programme was submitted :—

Overture, MissjH. Tizard and Mrs L. , Clark; “Huntsman’s Chorus,” school children ; song, Mr D. Pike ; flower song and dance, Miss Merle Mchndoe and chorus ; ballet, Miss Betty Wallace and chorus ; song “Bells of Brittany?’ Miss Jessie Wallace and school children; violin solo, Miss H. Tizard; old English scenes, school children; comedy, “Me and My Diary”; song, Mr F. Pollen; ballet, Miss Dulcie darken and chorus; solo dance, Miss -Merle Mdndoei; action song, “Mobnlight and .Roses,” Miss Jessie Wallace and chorus; ballet, Miss Dulcie darken and chorus; violin solo, Miss H. Tizard ; pageant, “Land df Hope and Glory,” the company.

The one-act comedy “Me and My Diaii-y” was well acted, with Miss Betty Wallace in the leading role. The concluding item, the Pageant, showed evidence of vast preparation and was. truly effective, all the parts of Empire being fully represented.
