CENTRAL PLAINS DRAINAGE.

Sir,—ln the “Gazette” of last Fri- ■ day, under the heading “Central Plains. Drainage,” you report Mr Kneebone as saying, “The Hauraki Board would not support any other scheme than the. Willow.” I ahi afraid he is being sadly misled somebody. A little while ago a different scheme was placed before the Hauraki Board, the main item in which was the reconstruction of the Te Kauri No. 1, and although your paper, for some ' unknown reason,- reiterates, “lack o’f unanimity,” not in the ■much-discussed area between the Te Kauri No. 2 and the Willow refused to sign-it. The Hauraki Board considered it very favourably, and promised ' they would do'all in thejr power to further the scheme at. their conference with the Horahia. Board. And now copies this surprising statement from the chairman of the Horahia Board. Now, I think, in fairness tp ' the members, of the Hauraki Board and the ratepayers concerned, he ought to make public his authority for that statement; then perhaps, we may be able to form some idea as

to who is causing all, this obstruction

and delay. Thq chairman of the. Hor,a- - hia Board has earned a good name,
