MEDICAL EXPENSES.
POSITION OF EX-SOLDIERS.
AN IMPORTANT DECISION; _
A reserved decision of panticulai ' interest to returned soldiers* bearing on the recent legislation providing that returned men are entitlqd to relief for medical expenses incurred as ■ a result of war injuries, the expanses to borne by the State, was delivered by the Magistrate, Mr Tate, ati Opunake last week. He emphasised that although .the expenses were incurred prior to the passing of the legislation of 1924 relief could be obtained if wa.r injuries proved responsible.
The case arose out of a claim by a medical practitioner against a returned soldier for professional fees; as a result of illness suffered by defendant in 1923. i
The Mag stratq found that the difficulty arose out of plaintiff’s neglect to advise the authorities of .the matter. He gave judgment for defendant.
