THE Hauraki Plains Gazette With which is incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE. Motto Public Service. MONDAY. WEDNESDAY. & FRIDAY. MONDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 1926. THE A. AND P. SHOW.

Much was done last year under the presidency of Mr W. J. Hall to place the Hauraki Agricultural and, Pastoral Association, Paeroa, on a good footing, and this year, with Mr H. J.. Hare as president, further progress is being made. Though the local show is almost wholly controlled by farmers the townspeople, have always been ready to give it their financial support, and When a canvass is made this week there is little likelihood of there being any exception. In the past the way Paeroa and Auckland business people have risen to the occasion has had the effect of greatly strengthening the good relations existing between town and country. Undoubtedly the interests of town and country are so closely interwoven that they cannot be. separated, and each should help the other in every possible way. How ready the townspeople were to do their part was shown by' the response made when a canvass of Auckland was made for donations. The trophies and cash prizes received or promised easily constitute a record for -the local show. The town certainly benefits by the show, and it is in the interests of the business people locally to support it in every way they can. Some wilk bf course, find an excuse for refusing to assist anything, but they form a very small minority. The preparations for the show are now well in hand, and ahi attractive schedule has, been distributed. It is to be hoped that this year those who Intend to compete at the show will, not delay in sending in, their entries until the. last moment. Late entries lead toi a great deal of confusion and inconvenience. The committee is snaring ho efforts to make this show bigger and better than former ones. With such entries td hand as Mr A. M. Samuel’s; hunter El Arish, : Mrs Erson’s; Patch, and Master G. Peake„ each of whoffi has won high honours at the Rbyal Show, the patrons should find much to interest and attract them. Tt is the duty of local citizens to combine and assist the 'farmers to make the 1926 Show a memorable event and in keeping with .the progress and prosperity of Paeroa and district.
