Notices are being prepared by the Railway Department impressing upon porters and station and guards’ van staffs the necessity of giving passengers’ luggage careful handling. The design of one such poster, shown to a “Post” reporter, emphasises by means of sketches some of the things that should not be done. A number of bars of iron, for instance, are seen resting on the top of a package labelled “Fragile” ; a porter is carelessly tossing a bag on to a pile of goods, while nearby a bicycle is leaning at a dangerous angle against a post. In another drawing a porter is depicted staggering away from a large flagon of vitroil, which, having been placed on the edge of a bpx, has overbalanced and crashed bn to the floor. The poster bears the legends: “Passengers’ Luggage Deserves Personal Care,” "Careful Handling Helps,” "The Safe Way is Best,” “Safe Habits Spell Economy.”
