PAEROA CLUB’S COMPETITIONS.
SATURDAY’S
The different competitions arranged by the Paeroa Tennis. Club were commenced on Saturday afternoon. The support received and the enthusiasm, displayed justify the action of the committee in placing the competitions well forward this season. Fine weather prevailed, bub a stiff noi- - Westerly wind made play cu.lt at times.
The men’s singles, A grade, competition, reached the semi-final stage. In the B grade J. Conolly beat RScott 6—2. The ladies’ singles reached the third round only. The men’s doubles, A grade final, was won by Ruston and L. C. Masters, who defeated Hamilton and J. Bigelow, who were on scratch. In the B grade E. Presjton and G. Masters defeated F. Hayward and W. Smith. ■ o
In the ladies’ A grade final Misses K. O’Grady and ’V. Shand defeated Mrs F. Pitts and Miss C. Taylor, 6—o. The B grade, final was won by Mrs C. Topliss and Miss, Miller, who; defea>ted Misses Hunter and L. Vincent, I —s.
