The Hauraki Plains County Council will approach the Main Highways Board on its visit to the Plains On the matter of having the MorrinsvilleNgatea road declared a portion of the main highways system. The Question of the route ift-dm the lower Patetonga road to the Kaihere flaxmill .will be left to the board’s engineer. The Plains County Council yesterday agreed to undertake the balance of the Turua Town Board’s road loan providing the work is completed by Christmas. Or. Harris waxed indignant at yesterday’s meeting of „ the Hauraki Plains County Council at .the action of the Public Works Department in removing sand from the back Miranda Road for use as blinding on the newly metalled main highway. The engineer said that the department had taken the sand without the knowledge of the council, but if it had known it was doubtful i£ the council could have stopped the work. In any case no harm was being done, and, on the other hand, considerable road fdrma r tion had been done to get to the sand pit. At yesterday’s meeting of the Hauraki Plains County Council Cr. Madgwick drew attention to the fact that the Thames Valley Power Board was having a .transformer station built 20ft on a county roa,d, though over a drain. It was pointed onto that the matter w r as one for the Turua Town Board.
