MISSING TURUA MAN.
BODY FOUND IN RIVER,
VERDICT OF FOUND DROWNED.
The body of Mr Augustus Jensen, painter, of Turua, was found in the Waihou River op Friday afternoon.
Deceased had not been seen sines .about 10.30 p.m. on Sunday, October 31, and while at first little notice was taken of his absence; on account of his habits of late, his friends eventually became concerned about nis nonappearance, and investigations were instituted. A close wa;tch was kept on the river .and the banks weile examined.
On the 10 a.m. trip of the KopuOrohgo ferry on Friday an object was seen floating down with the tide, but owing to the distance and the choppy state df the water it was not possible to tell what it was. However, in view of the fact that there w.as a man missing, the matter was. reported to the police and the search was intensified. During the afternoon Captain Pile, of .the launch Nancibell, located the body near the Kopu landing of the, ferry,, and the Thames police secured the body and conveyed it to the Thames An inquest was held at Thames on Saturday afternoon, before Mr W. H. Lucas district coroner, when a verdict was returned that deceased was found drowned in th® Waihou River there being no evidence to show how he got into the water.
