HAURAKI PLAINS CHEESE
THE TURUA FACTORY. VERY HIGH GRADING. Very satisfactory grading has been secured by the whole of the cheese manufactured by the Hauraki Plains Co-operative Dairy Co. of Turua this season. The first shipment for export was the whole of, the make, as none was sold locally, and .was graded “finest” with 93 points. The. next shipment of 121 crates secured 93% points, and the third shipment, of 153 crates, gained the exceptionally high, grading of 94 points. The succeeding shipments each averaging 200 1 ertaes, maintained the same high standard, the grade notes to date showing the following points : 93%, 94, 93, 93%. Up to the end of September the daily make was eight or nine cheeses a day more than during corresponding pe.riod of the previous season, but the bad weather during the early part of October prevented the increase from being maintained a,t the same level and at the present time the daily make of 76 cheeses is only two or three ahead of that at this' time last season. The capacity of the factory is 84 cheeses a day.
