Jack’s famous beanstalk did not have much on the giant bamboo of Savannah, according to information which Mr R. F. Goulter placed before the Marlborough branch of the Forestry League last Wednesday (say® the “Express”). Mr Goulter said the bamboo, a native of Georgia, reached a height of from 50ft to 60ft in a single season’s growth, and had been known to grow from 12 to 17 inched in 24 hours.
