DISTRICT NEWS.

KOPUABAHL CRICKET CLUB. The Kopuarahi Cricket Club held its fourth Annual meeting in the schoolroom on Thursday evening last, Mr D. J. O'Carroll presiding over a good attendance of members. The annual report commented on the fact that the membership had dropped last season to 19, but it was anticipated that the club would be much stronger during the coming season. Eleven association matches had been played, seven had be,an won, on® drawn, and three lost, and the club was the runners-up in the cup competition, having lost the final match by three runs. Several friendly matches had beqn played, and the club had been well’ represented in the Plains representatives. The leceipts for the past season amounted to £3O Ils lid and the expenditure to £27 4s lOd. The officers appointed for the season were as follows : President, Mr D. J. O’Carroll; vice-presidents, Messrs T. Braithwaite, W. E. Hale, L. Mouldey, J. Whitemore. G. Newsham, G. H. White, and F. A. Kneebone ; secretary, Mr Russell' Green; delegates to the Hauraki Plains Cricket Association,, Messi’s Russell Green and T. McKay ; auditor and scorer, Mr W. E, Hale ; captain,. Mr Russell Green ; vice-cap-tain, Mr N. Death ; selector and umpire, Mr J. G. Miller; committee, Messrs R. Green, N. Death, T. McKay; T. O’Carroll, E. C. Harwood, and R. Whelan.

The .annual subscripton was fixed at 10s, and boys ss. It was decided to open the season with an A v. B match on October 23, and if possible to play Tarai’u on the following Saturday. Thq delegates to the association were instructed to endeavour to get the association to insist on matches being commenced promptly at 11 a.m„

and also to endeavour to have the matches played right out, even though it might take, two Saturdays. The annual complimentary social to the ladies of the district will be held on October 29.
