HOCKEY.
LAST SATURDAYS MATCH. WAITAKARURU DEFEATS PAEROA. On Saturday last the Waitakaruru Indies’ hotkey team defeated the Paeroa ladies’ team by 5 goals to 2 at the local domain. The visitors proved themselves s.uperior throughout the game, and at half-time the scores were Waitakaruru 3, Paerofe 1. Tn the second half the game wa.s open and fast, the backs on both sides having a busy time. The hard-hitting propensities of the visitors gained them many advantages, and the game ended Waitakaruru 5, Paeroa 2. For the visitors goals were shot by Misses M. Beaver (2), Towsey, F. Berney, and Madge Beaver. Misses V. Shand and A. Morland each registered a goal for the local team.
