WRITING COMPETITION.
SUCCESSFUL LOCAL SCHOLARS.
THE JUDGE’S REPORT.
In connection with the writing competition recently held for schoolchildren of the Paeroa, and Thames districts, the following remarks were ■made by the judge;— “The children of the Thames district schools: have again broken the record for the number,of entries sent in in connection with the Writing Competition. This record was recently held by the Wairarapa district schools, and it is with great pleasure I notice that both these districts have some very excellent writers. Paeroa District High School sent in over 200 papers, and Thames Centra) and Thames South schools were right to the fore in this department. “I must speak highly of the incentive these competitions appear to have for the handwriting, and as I have adjudicated for the past eleven years I-cannot help but notice how the writing has improved generally. The following schools deserve special mention for their very excellent pen-. ma,nship and the way in which their papers were prepared: Thames Central, Thames: South, Paeroa, Hikutaia, Puriri, and Mangaiti.”The judge stated that this had been one of the most successful competitions he had had the pleasure fd judge, and great praise was due to the teachers who ha,d been instrumental in bringing the writing up to Siuch a high standard.
