SCHOOL DENTAL CLINIC.

ESTABLISHMENT AT PAEROA. RESTRICTED PLAINS SERVICE. As has been expected, the school dental service at the Ngatea clinic is to be resricted on account of the lack of appreciation of the service of the parents of childr&n residing outside Nga.tea, and the authorities have notified a proposal to open a clinic at Paeroa. 1

The following letter was received at the Ngatea District High School Committee meeting last evening from Mr J. L. Sanders, Acting-Director, Division of Dental Hygiene, Department of Public Health, on the matter : — “Upon going into lhe. question in connection with the treatment of the schools in the Ngatea district I find that there will not be sufficient work to keep the denta) officer occupied the whole year round. It is therefore proposed to open another clinic at Paeroa, at which the dental officer will spend a certain amount of time each yean

“It will, of course, be understood that this arrangement is, in no way to prejudice the interests of the children in the Ngatea district, and the dental officer will reserve sufficient time, to provide adequate attention for these.

? “If, as I understand, a seperate. dental clinic committee has been set up since Mr Elliott’s visit to Ngatea, I shall, be glad if you will convey this information to them.” The. chairman, Mr W. McDuff, expressed regret that the outside district had not seen fit toi support the clinic. Under the circumstances it was only natural that the dental officer would not be kept doing nothing.
