WORK OF THE MONTIL
MANAGER’S REPORT.
The manager of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board (Mr R. Sprague) submitted the following report for the month to the boat'd meeting on Tuesday:—
“Loan.—Since last meeting arrangemsnts have been made with the A.M.P. Society for £lOO,OOO at 5% per cent, to be received in amounts of £5OOO per month.
“Pumping Motors-. —Quite a demand for motors for pumping purposes on the Hauraki Plains has set in, and to meet same: it has been necessary to obtain transformers ex-stock. Owing to the possibility of a, delay in the delivery of transformers owing to the Strike in England, arrangements are being made for obtaining other deliveries. No definite advice has yet been received, as a letter before "you this day will explain. “Consumers. —Applications for motors and general installations are being received daily. The totaj number of consumers connected to the board’smains at August 31, 1926, was 6000, which includes the boroughs Of Thames and Te. Afoha. There were also connected 84 lighting and heating consumers, 63 water-heaters, 8 electric ranges, and 59 motors: on farms, of which 55 were 2 h.p. milking motors-. There are now conniected and operating 808 water-heaters, 124 electric ranges, and 1719 motors on farms, 1506 of the latter being 2 h.p. -milking motors. In the number of motors- connected to the board’s mains during the month 42. are on already existing lines. “There were also connected in meter areas one motor each of 50 h.p., 40 h.p., 5 h.p., and %h.p., three of 3 k.p., and four electric ranges. It is anticipated that a further 30 to 40 2 h.p. motors will be installed during the present month. “Poles.—Good shipments of poles are now coming to ha,nd ex-Auckland, arid -no difficulty is being experienced with delivery of poles or copper wire.” ENGINEER’S REPORT. The engineer (Mr N. G. McLeod) reported as follows :— “Ngate.a.— A hew transformer structure has been erected at the Ngatea bridge and a 50-k.v.a. 11,000-volt transormer installed to supply pdwer to drainage pump motors. This will also hjlqw of rearrangement of the low tension supply' on that section. “Ryall’s Road.—The line on .this road and railway crossing have been completed, and supply was given on August 28.
“Smith’s Road, Omahu. —Poles have been distributed on this road, and ejection is proceeding. Supply should be available within the next week. “Synchronous Condensers. — Good progress .has bee.n made with the station at Matamata. The building has been erected during the month, and the whole of the plant has been installed. It is expected"to be running within a fortnight. “The foundations, for the station at Turua are practically completed, and erection will commence as, soo'n as the men can be released from Matamatii. “General.—The number of new motor installations this; month has kept the gangs very fully employed on this work, some of the services being very lolig.”
