OBITUARY.

MR. SAMUEL THOMAS SILCOCK. The untimely death under such tragic circumstances of Mr Samuel Thomas Silcock at the Thames Public Hospital yesterday afternoon removesa well-known and highly respected citizen of Paeroa. Born at Auckland 416 years ago, deceased came to> Paeroa at an early age, and has, spent practically the whole of his, life/in this town. Tn his young days deceased took a keen interest in sport, particularly in Rugby football, and was a member of the first representative Goldfields, team. Always an enthusiastic volunteer, the late Mr Silcock saw active service during the Boer War, serving with the Bth N.Z. Oon- - ingent. In 1913 deceased married Miss O. Lipsham, of Paeroa, who predeceased him in 191§, leaving two children. About two years ago he married Mrs B. Mahon, who survives, him. Deceased was of a retiring disposition, but of sterling quS,lities k and his death under such distressing circumstances has been a great shock to a a vide .circle of friends, A wife, five children, and a mother, brother, and two sisters are left to mourn their loss, and to them. are. extended the deepest sympathy of a wide circle of friends.
