UAURAKI PLAINS BODY. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the Hauraki Plains A. and P. Association was held at Kerepeehi on Wednesday evening, Mr P. R. Henry presiding over Messrs J. Murdock, H. Hoff, H. Jamieson, A. Loving, 0. Pearce, W. Chick, W. Herkt, and W- Booth. The chairman said that he had. not pitepared an annual report, as members were fully conversant with the year’s operations. The sports had been very satisfactory, and it was hoped to carry on similail functions in tne 'future and gradually work back to the holding Of a show. The secretary commented that the financial position was much sounder than that disclosed at the last annual meeting. There was not much cash in hand, but there‘were pr actically no debts. Receipts- totalled £321 18s 7d, in addition to £1 5s 2d cash in hand. The expenditure amounted to £314 I s 8d and the bank overdraft £9 2s Id. The statement of assets and liabilities- showed an excess balance of. assets over liabilities of £1389 16s lid. The liabilities were: Outstanding cheques £77 17s, sundry creditors £73 3s- 2d. The assets showed cash in hand and in bank to be £ll9 Is 8d ; Kerepeehi Showground, £2721 15s sd, less mortgage to Miller and Son of £l3OO, which left assets- totalling £1540 17s Id. In reply to a question the secretary stated that the liability to sundry creditors, of £73 3s 2d consisted of rates due :to the County Council and Drainage Board. One quarter’s interest was noiw due. The balance-shee was- adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. Prior to vacating the chair tne president, Mr P. R. Henry, thanked members for the assistance given him during the year. Referring to the Easter Monday sports meeting, he stated that the altered programme, had been very satisfactory from all viewpoints, and there was no doubt that future sports meetings would be equally attractive. He wished to compliment the secretary for .the enthusiastic manner in which he had carried out his duties; In leaving the chair Mr Henry intimated'that he did not-- desire reappointment, and nominations were called for the position. Mr H. D. Jamieson declined nomination, and eventually Mr Henry was induced to accept the office. All present were appointed the committee, together with Messrs C. Smith, D. -Shilton, W. Shilton, E. C. Barriball, and J. H. Nicholson. The committee;.was given power to add to its number.

During the appointment dfi the committee the question off whether committeemen should be financial members was brought up by the president, who suggested that the rule, be w'aived fo>r the present. The subscription of £1 is was too much, s,eeing that only a sports l meeting w.as being held. Mr Hoff advocated that the membership fee be reduced to 'ss, which he considered should be a,n incentive to join the society. He moved that the vice-president’s subscription be lOS and membership fee ss.

This was seconded by Mr W. Herkt

Mr W. Booth pointed out that the reduction in fees' would necessitate a reduction in privileges, and after some discussion it was decided that the, fees be 10s 6d.

On being asiced ni& opinion the retiring secretary, Mr W. Booth, s.ajd that he did not want and would not take the job, but he was of the opinion that the*post should be a pa.id one if necessary. He would suggested that in addition a commission be paid. No one could be induced to take the position, and finally it was agreed that Mr Booth should hold the books until ■the organisation of the show became .due. RATES ON SHOWGROUND. The annual meeting was then closed and a committee meeting was held to consider the question of seeking a remission of the, raets due on the showground.
