SCHOOL HOLIDAYS.
EDUCATION BOARD’S LIST. ’ TERMS ADOPTED. The Auckland Education Board has considered the result ofthe referendum of school committees on the question of school holidays. The majority of the committees, were in favour of an increase in the number of school holidays, and the board resolved to adopt the scheme recommended by the Education Department, Wellington, namely , the first term consist of. 14 /weeks with two weeks’ holiday in May; the second term to consist of 14 weeks with two weeks’ holiday at the end of August ; and the, third term to consist of 14 weeks, ending with six weeks’ holi.day at Christmas, with the proviso that country school committees- may postpone the May holidays until the beginning of June upon their obtaining the consent Of the board. ~ It was. also decided to add Easter Tuesday to the school holidays, which formerly consisted of Good Friday and Easter Wtonday.
