At the local Police Cbwrt on Saturday morning, before Mr W. Marshall, J.P., a first offender was charged with being found drunk in Hill Street, Paeroa, on Friday morning last. There was no appearance of defendant, who was convicted and Ordered to forfeit £l, the amount of his bail.

•The Thames Valley touring team is due back at Te Araha about mid-day to-morrow. In view of the match against North Auckland at Te Aroiha on Wednesday afternoon it is not proposed to disband the team until after that match.

While wild animals atta’ched to a circus were being unloaded from a 'railway siding at Orange, 200 miles west of Sydney, on Thursday, a lioness thrust her paw through the bars of her cage and seized the arm of a boy named Patrick Bourke. Bystanders beat the animal back, but only after the boy’s arm had been terribly mangled.

A large, party of domestics, sailing by the lolnic, was farowelled by the 1-1 igh Commissioner and Lady Parr on Friday. The domestics are in charge of Miss'Dale, the oldest of the welfare, officers, who is making her fifty-sixth trip prior to her retirement.
