Interest in the possibilities of electrically driven pumps, ns an adjunct to (Iboid-gatcs in the successful unwatering of the Hauraki Plains continuers to gi'ow apace. Mr W. G. Hayward and flic settlors on the southern side oif Orchard East Road near the Ngatea bridge have secured a. pump similar to the one hi operation on the, Puhnngn island block and hope to have it in operation onrly this week. The Rawcrawo Road settlors' will discuss securing a. pump at a meeting to be he.l<l to-morrow evening, and it is mooted in other parts that more pumps will be in use before long. On the ground that under by-law 25 ot the Adelaide City Council, a. woman cannot own a bus, a man was last Monday refused a license to drive a bus owned by Mrs C. O.
