At the weekly stock market in the Frankton yards on Tuesday last we had a fair entry of bedf and mutton, but only a small number of fat pigs were penned.
Beef. —Fat steers sold >a,t similar rates to these reached the previous week, while good quality prime cow and heifer beef was much firmer. Medium fat steers made ‘from £lO 12s to £lO 17s 6d, light £9 2s, 6d to £9 17s 6d, small and unfinished £6 15s to £8 2s 6d; extra good quality he.avy prime young cows £l2 15s to £l3, heavy prime £ll 5s to £ll 15s, medium prime £8 3s> to £9 7s 6d, plain £5 12s 6d to £6 10s, light £4 10s to £5 ; forward-conditioned 4-year-old Polled Angus and Hereford-Shorthorn cross, steers £7 17s 6d to £8 ; 2-year empty Jersey cross he.ifers £2 ; mixed yearlings 30s to 34s ; cull cows £1 to £1 6s ; best dairy caws a,! profit £9 to £9 15s, good .sorts, backward, £6 to £7, inferior £3 to £4 10s. Sheep.—Prime mutton sold at equal to last week’s rates,, plain and ordinary being eaiser. Good quality prime heavy 2-to(Xb|i wethers 31s, fair 4 and 6-tooth wethers 27s Id to 28s 3d ; .extra prime woolly hoggets 28s, medium fat hoggets 20s 6d to 225. Pigs.—Fats were firm at late rates and stores sold at advanced prices,. Me.dium baconers £3 17s to £4 7s ; good porkers and light bacpiners £3 3si to £3 10s, light £2 10s to £2 15s ; best sows due to farrow £5 17s 6d to' £7, others £3 5s to £4'; sjips and small porkers 30s to 375, best weaners £1 to £1 7s.
