FIGURES FOR THAMES DISTRICT.
WITHDRAWALS ABOVE DEPOSITS.
The following information for the quarter ended June 30, 1926, for the Thames postal district, is included in the latest issue of the N.Z. Ga,zette: A ! t the end of the quarter there were 71 offices. in the Thames district. During the quarter there were 40,602 ordinary telegrams; despatched, the revenue being £1825 6s 7d; ajse 1961 urgent telegrams, value £179 Is Id, 1152 night letter telegrams, value £69 7s 4d, 853 press telegrams, value £lB7 Us 4d. There were 77,220 toll communications to. the value otf! £2756 10s 9d.
A statement showing the number and amount -of -money-oirjder and sav-ings-bank transactions, 'for the quarter shows, that at the 40 money-order offices in the -district 7290 moneyorders were, issued to a -total value of £43,730 Is Bd, and 3071 orders were paid, amounitng toi £20 ! ,391 3s 7d. In the 41 savings-banks 665 accounts, were opened, and 54.1 were 'closed. The number of deposits totalled 7555 and the withdrawals 4'517. The .amount hf deposits totalled £152,60-8 10s 5d and the withdrawals £153,504 15s Id, the excess of withdrawals over depclsits being £896 4s Bd.
Of the total revenue of £863,028 Ils 3d for the quarter collected in the postal- districts of the Dominion the Thames district contributed £13,516 16s 7d, which is, an increase on the previous quarter’s figures.
