The Gazette notifies; the GovernorGeneral’s consent to the najsing of certain loans by local bodies, including a loan of £150,000 to the Thames Valley Electric Power Board for electrical works-. We have received the fourth annual report and statement of accounts for the year ended June 30, 1926, of the N.Z. Meat Producers’ Board, In the course of the report it is stated : “The season under 'review, frd!m a fattening point of view, has ■certainly not been so favourable as, the preceding one, as is shown by the amount of meat shipped and the average weight of stock treated. The continual dry weather along the East Coast of the North Island had a very marked effect on the quality and quantity of stock sent along to- the lfre.ezing works. Our exports of beef suffered particularly from this drought, as- is shown by the small amount exported. The quantity of beef shipped was the smallest for rnanj- years; through shortage of Ifeed farmers in the drought-affected e{reas were obliged to kill not only cattle of both sexes, but also a large number of calves. A big percentage of these were too emaciated for export, with the result that as the East Coast supplies a great portion of our export beef, it will mean that very little cattle will be available 'for export from this dis-, trict during the coming season. The climatic conditions in +he ether districts were fairly normal.” Farmers I Only the best milking machine is good enough for you. Buy the Wallace .and get satisfaction.*
