LIFE’S LITTLE WORRIES.

BEES AND MOSQUITOES. A little brightness was introduced into the proceedings at the annual conference of the Counties,’ Association at Wellington last week by a remit from Ellesmere suggesting that bee-hives be not allowed to be close up to the road line of a county road, owing to the danger to, passengers, horses, and stock from beestings, during warm summer days. The president (Mr A. E', Jull) said that while some surprise might be ftelt at the suggestion to introduce legislation affecting bees, yet he. could understand that the matter might be one of concern to certain counties. He had met with moie trouble, from mosquitoes. In the course of the discussion which followed the president added reminiscently : “I went into the bee business once, but I had to get out of it, as one morning I could not get my collar on and another morning I could not get my boots on’.” Several delegates declared that bee were a source of annoyance and danger in some counties, and a motion was passed suggesting that county council, should frame by-laws, governing .the location of bee-hives.
