PLAINS RUGBY UNION. ’MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The management committee of the Hauraki Plains. Rugby Union met at Ngatea on Tuesday evening, the-presi-dent, Mu J. Costello, presiding over Messrs C. S. Foster, H. L, Berney, W, Thompson, J, H, ■ Nicholson, A. E. Ludlow, and W. Wylde l (secretary); THANKS. The Piako Rugby Union wrote thanking the union anld expressing its appreciation .of the hospitality and kindness extended to its team when visiting. Ngatea. THAMES MATCH. The Thames Rugby Union agreed to the alteration in the programme, as. follows : July 24, Thames v. plains at -Ngatea; August 7, Peace Cup match at Thames. A further-letter advised that it was not possible to send a junior team-to Ngatea on July 24, but efforts ; would be made to arrange ■ another date. / It was: decided, to submit August 14 and August 28 as dates for the junior ■match, which would be a benefit for injured players. THAMES VALLEY MATCH. The Thames Valley Union advised that the following Plains players had ;be,en selected to play ini the North v. . South match at Paeroa on Saturday : E. Johnston,- F. Nicol,« Buchanan, L, Berney, P. Clark, R. McPherson, and K, Fox. It was agreed that Mr Berney take 1 these players through. UNION PAYMENTS.. The Thames galley Rugby Union advised that the annual affiliation fee was due, and that a remittance on account of the 20 per. cent, of the nett gate receipts of Poland Cup matches would be very acceptable at an early dates. The secretary reported that the .affiliation fee had been paid and £lO had been sent on account of.the 20 per cent. levy. He desired to know what deductions should be made from the gross, takings. SCHOOL GRANT. The delegates, to the Thames Valley. Rugby Union reported that the distribution of the N.Z. Rugby Union’s .grant had been deferred until the be.ginning of next season. rINTER-CLUB COMPETITION. The secretary reported that th® inter-club competition had concluded with the Turua club at the head of the senior grade and the Ngatea and -Kerepeehi -teams equal in the junior grade. The 'Kerepeehi delegates voiced the opinion that the Kerepeehi-Turua match should be replayed' on account of the circumstances 'under, which it had taken place. No protest had been entered because the match >was not considered a cup match. Decision was deferred until al later meeting. SCHOOL MATCHES. The headmaster of the Kopuarahi school wrote advising that the Coast -schoolboy team was agreeable to joining the Thames Valley Primary Schools Union, and was a '^ so agreeable. to following any arrangements concerning practice matches, for the purpose ! df selecting a team to play Thames or any other, centre. The headmaster of the Kerepeehi school wrote suggesting that for the purpose of selecting a school representative team-a ma.tch be played between teams drawn from the Ngatea and Coast clubs and the Turua and Kerepeehi clubs. It was decided to suggest to the managers of the school teams that the suggestion to be followed out, and th^t-the 1 game be played at Ngatea on Saturday as a curtain-raiser to the Plaihs-Thames match. The appointment of the, selector was- Idft to the managers of the school- teams. INJURED PLAYERS. The president mentioned the mat-ter-,of- injured players, and asked if something could not be done to raise funds for their benefit. L. Cotter, of the, Ngatea club, had broken his leg on-May 15 and was still in hospital, and was likely to remain there for some time. The Ngatea club had held a benefit ball Tor its injured players and raised £26. The Turlua and the iNga.tea clubs would play a benefit match on July 31. It was agreed to play other benefit matches. TRANSPORTATION. - The secretary reported that no tenders had been received by him for the transportation of . players to and from Ngatea to. connect with the bus bn the occasion of away representative matches. As the meeting was not a representative one the matter was deferred.
