TURUA PUBLIC HALL.

MEETING OF SHAREHOLDERS. The statutory m®eting of shareholders of the Turua Public Hall Company was held in the Turua Buildings on Friday evening, Mr A. H. Rogers presiding over an attendance of about 40. The report of the provisional directors, was read, and after some explanation was adopted. The following nine provisional directors were appointed the directors of the company : Messrs A. H. Rogers, S', S, Murray, D, G, McMillan, G, Gray, W. Madgwick, J. Mules, J, A, Bennett, A. H. Sutton, a.nd S, G, Williams, Three directors will retire annually. A vote of thanks was accorded the retiring directors, and Mr A. Aberhart was thanked for his services in connection with the designing of the building, A vote of thanks wa,s also accorded Mr E. A .Chester for services rendered during the preliminary arrangements. Returning thanks for the vote accorded the retiring directors Mr A. H. Rogers said that if the same Harmony as had characterised the past operations was to continue the future would be bright. The difficulties, had been great, aud the 1 result showed what could be done by all sections pulling together. A very great deal of credit was due to Mr J. E. Green ■for the enthusiastic and energetic manner in which he had entered into the project.

A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Green for his services in connection with the formation of the company. Replying ot a question Mr Rogers said that inquiries had been received from several sources for the right to screen pictures several nights a week. The matter had not been discus,sed by the provisional directors.

It was decided that it be a recommendation to the directors that when the tenders *for the shop were being considered the question of leasing it to a married couple be taken into consideration so that the man could act as caretaker.

After some discussion the class o£ seats ,to be provided was left in the hands of the directors.

In reply to a question Mr Rogers s,aid that the provision of crockery had not yet been considered.
