COURT RETURNS.
PAEROA FIGURES FOR QUARTER. MINING APPLICATIONS DECREASEAt the local Court foi- the quarter ended June 30, 1926, 69 Europeans we.re sued for debt, the total amount claimed being £1144 ss, 3d. Of the total cases 44 were actually tried, the amount involved being £968 Ids 6d, of which sum £773 18s 3d was recovered through the Court. The district Magistrate, Mr J. H. Salmon, held three sittings during the quarter, and three sittings were presided over by local Justices of the Peace. A total of 78 plaints was entered, 22 judgment summonses, 2 warrants for committal,. and 107 summonses were served by the bailiff. Criminal case.s against 22 males were also heard. The civil fees paid into the; Court for the quarter totalled £B7 2s, criminal fees £7 6s, fines £6.1, and licensing fees £l4.
The Warden’s, Court showed a considerable decline' in business for the quarter. Only’ eight applications in respect to mining privileges were, received, and the total amount of gold revenue received was £320 9s 7d.
