MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The. regular' meeting of the Paeroa District High School Committee was held on Saturday night, .the chairman (Mr C. H. Pascoe)i presiding over Messrs W. Purdie,..C, T, Mettajn, W, H. Blake way, W. Smith, J, H, McDonald, R. J, Thorp and the secretary, Mr W- L. Lawrence. . The headmaster, Mr G, H, Taylor, was also in attendance. . ; EDUCATION BOARD ELECTION. The Education Board forwarded a, number of voting papers for the use of the committee in electing one member for the East ward on the board.- \ SCHOOL GROUND.' For the visiting committee Mr McDonald reported that the a,roa loaned by' the Defence Department required clearing of noxious weeds and the long grass scythed. It was resolved to have the area attended .to at once. The question df clearing a stormwater drajnjand the facing of a portion of the clay bank with rock in the boys’ upper-playground Was referred to Messrs Thorp and Smith. It was resolved that the'matter of ploughing the gully and levelling off the shoulders of the bank in the new playing area be referred to Mr Smith and. the secretary, with power to act. JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL. Mr Thorp introduced the question of the establishment of a junior high school, to be attached to the present senior high school department After some discussion, during which it was generally recognised that such a provision was becoming a necessity, it was resolved that the' secretary write to Mr E. C. Banks for full information concerning the provision df a junior high school on linejs similar to those obtaining at Matamata. FINANCE. Accounts amounting to £l4 5s 2d on the school fund account, £8 12s 8d on the. .Orphans’ Club and subsidy account, and £8 4s Id on the new playing area account Were passed for payment. .
