MB AND MRS DAVID LEACH. - CELEBRATION AT WAIHI. The celebratioiiJof a golden wed- ■ ding hi Waihi is rather a, unique occurrence, therefore much interest was Shown iii. connection ; with the ceremonies' which ‘took place last Thursday evening,- when a. large number of relatives "and friends ot-Mr and Mrs David Leach, of Waihi East, assembled to do honour to the aged couple and offer their felicitations on the happy - occasion. x Mrs Lefech were married -on July 1, fifty .years ago, at Tem-uka (Canterbury). ' There are six sons— David ■ (Paeroa), Archibald, James, William, Richard, and Laurie—ani one daughter, Mrs D. Durie, of Waihi. ■ About ; thirty ..persons, principally relatives - and close friends, partook df breakfast at Mr Leach’s i-dsidence, during which the toast of the ‘‘Bride and Bridegroom” was enthusiastically An -adjournment yuas then made to St. Josephs Hall, Where over 200 i guests were entertained. The ' arrival of t,he “happy couple” was the signal-for the pldying of the wedding march by Mrs Map Williams, and as Mr- and Mrs Leach proceeded up the centre of the hall, accompanied by they Mayoress- (Mrs W. M. Wallnutt) - andi* their ■ sons a,nd daughter, ' the guests, standing on either side, •showered them with confetti. After taking their seats the guests' all joined in singing “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows,” ' eliding with three cheers for Mr and Mrs Leach.
