VAUDEVILLE SHOW.

LEE TCHUNG FOO CO.

AN ENJOYABLE ENTERTAINMENT.

There was a moderate gathering of the public at the Gaiety Theatre, Paeroa, last night to see the first appearance of Lee Tchung Foo and his clever . compapy. The show ’from start to finish was clever and novel, And throughout there was,an entire absence of vulgarity. The lion’s share o( the work fell to Lea Tchung Foo, who proved himself ,to be a particularly clever conjurer, magician, and gymnast. As an equilibrist and tumbler his work .wlas very cleverly executed, and won him rounds of applapse'. The famous Chinese needle trick, in which Lee Tchung Foo threaded three packets of needles in his mouth, was: very clever and mystifying. The work of M’dlle Regnier, a, chit Parisienne: artiste, with a pretty accent, was refreshing, and her character songs and saxophone, selections were much enjoyed and she was compelled to respond to many encores. Lillian and Renee, two child acrobats and equilibrists, immediately established themselves as firm favourites. The plate-spinning and tumbling of Lillian Was very cleverly executed. Jing Wee Quemg, the Chinese calculator -And ropO-knotting expert', delighted the audience; and he played a large part in assisting Lee Tchung Foo with his startling fe.ats. In addition to the a.rtists, each of whom was particularly good, the stage scenes and drapings were gorgeous, and truly representative of the Orient. The. dresses worn by M’dlle Regnier were beautiful, and the exquisite Chinese costumes added materially to the galaxy of splendour and fascination.
