THAMES VALLEY BOARD. REPORTS FOR JUNE. The following report for June was submitted by the manager (Mr R. Sprague) to Tuesday’s meeting of the Thames Vajley Electric Power Board : “Section at Turua.—A section, at Turua has been purchased tor the erection of a troubleman’s accommodation, a,nd also for .the synchronous condenser station, which is now being erected'- Mr Willy’s assistance in the matter of obtaining prices, etc., of sections has been very helpful. The troubleman should be operating at Turua before the next milking season starts, and the condenser station should greatly .assist the regulation on the Plains, which caused numbers of complaints at the end df the past milking season. “Power Board’s Conference.;—The annual conference of power boards wil be held in Wellington on July 20. The only remits forwarded are being taken up .by the Engineering Conference. on account of same being of a, purely technical nature. “Poles- —The Louis Theriault should be due to leave Newcastle with a shipment of poles, upon the arrival of which the stacks of poles should be ample until arrangements are made tor a, further shipment. “Consumers.—The total number of consumers connected to the board’s mains at June 26, 1926, was 5863, which includes the boroughs of Thames and Te Aroha. During the month 25 lighting and heating consumers, 13 water-heaters, 2 electric stoves, together with 3 motors on farms of which 2 were, 2 h.p. milking motors, were connected. There are now connected and operating 714 water-heaters, 98 ranges, and 1641 motors on farms of which 1440 are 2h.p. milking motors.” ENGINEER’S REPORT. The engineer (Mr N. G. McLeod) reported as follows :— “Hopai East 11,000-volt Line.—The extension oh this road is now almost complete, the wire having been run a,nd the transformer plattorm erected. “Mackaytown Extensions. —The low tension lines and transformer work to give supply to consumers on this section are beihg started this .week“Ryall’s Road Line.—Work is proceeding on this line, the poles having been distributed and cross-arming completed. “High Tension Telephone.—New lines have been run ih order to have separate, circuits from the Paeroa depot direct to the Hauraki Plains and Thames sections, respectively, thus ensuring better communication“Maukoro 11,00'0-volt Line.—'The extension to the timber mills and flaxmills has been completed, and supply was given to the timber mill on June 21, a 100 k.v.a. transformer being installed. The low tension to supply Phillips and Clarke was made alive on June 24. “Synchronous Condensers.— The buiding at Morrinsville has been completed and the plant is being installed. It should be ready for testing within three weeks. The foundations St Matamata have been completed and those at Turua are being started this week.”
