WAIKATO MARKET REPORT.
The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company reports:— Beef. —Good ya'rdings of both prime ox and cow beef are coming forward, and, contrary to expectations, there lias been practically no rise, best ox making up to 31s per 100 1 and best cow and heifer up to 2Gs. Fat Sheep.—Plenty of fat sheep are offering, both in yards and paddocks, with no rise since our last report’.
Store Sheep.—There is still a fair inquiry for most classes, hogge.ts, wethers, and e.wes in lamb being sought after, but empty ewes and cull sheep are not in demand. Store Cattle.—Stores aJ’e still coming forward from Hawke’s Bay, and, considering their condition, are making good money, grown steers a,nd young male cattle being wanted, but store cows and yearling heifers are dull of sale.
DaiiT Cattle. —There is a gcod inquiry for good in-calf heifers, also for good dairy herds, but inferior of both these classes are not wanted.
Pigs.—The market continues firm for baconers and porkers, prices being equal to about 6%d. Stores are on the rise and meeting with ready sale. Horses. —The market continues quiet for all classes. We. quote: Bullocks, prime heavj r .til to £l3, medium £lo' to £lO 10s ; cows, prime. £8 to £8 10s 1 , medium £6 to £7, unfinished £3 to £3 10s, stores £2 10s to £3 ; steel's, forward 4%-year £7 5s to £7 103, stores, £5 15s to £6 ss, good £4 15s to £■s ss,' 18-monthsi £3 10s to £4 'ss ; good steer calves £2 to £2 10s ; good Jersey heifer calves 35 s to £2 10s; fresh empty cows £3 5s to £3 10s, aged store cows 30s to 35s ; choice in-calf Jersey crosfc dairy heifers £8 10s to £9 10s. Sheep : Wethers, prime heavy 29s to 31s, medium piimc. 26s 6d to 275; ewes, prime heavy 2fl.s to 235, light 18s to 19s ; store wethers, 4-tooth 22s 6d to 245, 2-tooth 20s to 22s 6d ; ewes, 4,6, and 8-topth, in lamb, 22s 6d to 255, 5-years 18s to 20s, aged 12s to 14s ; fat lambs 22s to 24's ; good store woolly hoggets 14s 6d to 15s 6d, small woolly hoggets 10s to 11s 6d. Pigs : Baconers, prime £4 to £4 4s, medium £3 8s to £3 15s ; porkers £2 5s to £2 15s, slips 30s to 345, weaners 15s to 17s. Horstes: Heavy draughts £5O to £6O, medium £2B to £32 ; spring cart sorts £l6 to £lB, harness horses £8 to £lO, hacks £5 to £B.
