ST. PAUL’S PARISH.
APPOINTMENT OF NEW VICAR.
REV. RICHARD A. FORDE, B.D.
News was received in Paeroa yesterday that the Rev- Richard Augustus Forde, 8.D., a,t present priest in charge of St. Paul’s Church, Fort Fairfield, Maine, U.S.A., has accepted the position of vicar of St. Paul’s parish, Paeroa.
Mr Forde is an Englishman, 41 years of age, who was educated at Westminster, Hastings, and Brighton. At the age of 20 lie went to South Africa, and after being there for some, little time engaged in the teaching profession, he moved to Canada and entered the University of Lennoxville, in the Province, of Quebec. After a full university course he was ordained deacon, and the following year was made a priest by the Bishop bf Toronto. He was for three years cura.to of St. Matthew’s, Toronto, and for the last six yea.rs has been doing work in the. American Church, botli in the mission field and in parishes, Mr Forde is spoken of. by his bishop, and the clergy with whom he has worked, as a man in the prime of life and of great experience, who has been singularly successful with men and boys, a ready and forceful preacher, holding the attention of his hearers by his earnestness and aptness' of illustration. He is a married man with two children, and will, leave Vancouver on August 25, and should arrive in Auckland on September 13.
