WORK OF THAMES INSTITUTION.

RECORDS FOR LAST MONTH.

The reports, for the month of May were submitted to a meeting of the Thames Hospital Board op Monday. SURGEON’S REPORT.

The resident surgeon (Dr. J. Ritchie) reported tha,t 31 males and 47 females had been admitted during the month, a.nd 36 males and 34 females had been discharged. There were 26 males and 36 females rejoining at date. Out-patients totalled 18 males and 2 females, involving 88 attendances. There had been 14 males and 22 'females operated on. In a covering letter the superintendent tendered his sincere; thanks to the boa,rd and hospital staff for the loyal co-operation and courtesy that he. had received during his si.v and a lialf years at Thames. MATRON’S REPORT. The matron (Miss K. M. Apse,nne) reported a,t length on staff matters. Miss I. Thorp, Paeroa, had forwarded a dozen knives for use in the women’s surgical ward as a token of her appreciation of the treatment she had received while an inmate of that ward. NURSE TO NATIVES. The district nurse to Natives i(Miss J. M. Jarrett) reported that she had treated 50 patients, involving 146 visits. Lectures had been given bn typhoid and inoculation, and 59 first a,nd 56 second inoculations for typhoid had been administered Eleven pahs were visited during the month. DISTRICT HOMES. Tiie superintendent of the, District Homes, Tarayu, reported that there were 12 male and 2 female inmates in the institution, the conduct being very good.
