PILES AT TURUA WHARF.

HINDRANCE TO METAL LANDING. ACTION BY TOWN BOARD. At AVednesday evening’s meeting of the Turua Town Board there was considerable discussion on the procuration of metal for the completion of tlie township reading scheme. Three streets yet, remain to be bitumen sealed, and it is estimated that 600 yards of metal will be required. It is understood by tlie board that: this supply could be, obtained from the Hauraki Plains County Council’s Hikutaia qua.rry during the winter months at a price which compared very favourably with the ruling price, but the disadvantage was the impossibility of landing the metal a,t Turua except at a prohibitive price because, of tlie blockage of the landing place by the. piles placed for that purpose by direction of the Thames Harbour Boa.rdRegret was expressed that members of the Harbour Board had not yet visited Turua to see the position for themselves, and it was decided to make representations to have the piles 'removed.
