DISTRICT NEWS.
PATETONGA. PRESENTATION. A very enjoyable evening was spent in the Public Hall, Patetonga, on May 26, the occasion being a farewell apd presentation to Mr David Cowdrey and Miss F. O’Connor prior to their marriage. The hall wa r $ crowded, and dancing was indulged in until an early hour. As both had been prominent in sport, all sections subscribed, and the result was a beautiful set of ta.ble cutlery and silver-mounted oak tray, engraved. After supper Mr Patterson, president of the Tennis Club, on behalf of the settlers, made the presentation, expressing good wishes for their future life and happiness. Mr Cowdrey, replying for Miss O’Connor and himself, thanked everyone for being so generous and kind. They much regretted leaving Patetonga district, where they had so many friends, but they would never forget them and would be pleased to see anyone from the district aj any time. Mr Mayn, representing tlye Hall Committee, also spoke of the good qualities of the young couple, and wished them all happiness in their future life.
