annual meeting of board. MR. J. w. DANBY CHAIRMAN. The annual meeting of the Thames Harbour Board was held on Tuesday evening last, the chairman (Mr R. Coulter) presiding over Messrs E. Edwards, Brpwne, Laughlin, McCormick, Danby, Hetherington, a ( nd Miller. The secretary (Mr E. V. Saunders) and the engineer (Mr E. F. Adams) were also present. ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN. The first business of the meeting being to elect a chairman, Mr Edwards proposed, and Mr Browne seconded, that Mr R. Coulter be reelected; Mr McCormick nominated Mr J. W. Dauby, and Mr Hetherington second-

When asked by Mr Danby if he intended to vote. Mr Coulter said that the work of the board had gripped him to his intense interest. 'He realised that there was a; desire for a local chairman. He did not wish to be a stumbling block in any way, and would therefore be pleased to withdraw. Messrs Edwards and Browne agreed, and, in the abence oft further nominations, Mr Danby wajs duly elected chairman. On taking the chair. Mr Danby returned thanks, after receiving the congratulations of Mr Coulter. Mr Danby asked the meeting to reduce the chairmain’s honorarium by £5O, a,s, being a Thames member, tnat amount would meet- his requirements. Mr Wagstaff congratulated Mr Danby, and formally moved that the chairman’s honorarium be £75 a year. —Carried. Eulogistic references were accorded Mr Coulter for the valuable services he had rendered during the term that he had been chairman and a member pf the board. Returning thanks, Mr Coulter said that he felt sure, future difficulties would be overcome, and he wished the chairman a successful term of offce.

ORDINARY MEETING. TURUA WHARF SHED. An application was, made by the Turua Footbajl Club for the use of the Turua wharf shed ip which to hold practices. The request was grajnted, subject to sureties being entered into providing against loss of goods or damage to the board’s property. GENERAL. It was decided to contribute £lo' towards the expenses of the ThamesHauraki District Court at the Auckland Winter Exhibition. In recognition of special work and conditions, it was resolved tlra,t the. secretary receive a bonus of £25 on June 30, and a further bonus of £25 on December 31. The foreman (Mr Stone) and assistant foreman (Mr Arnold) were granted a bonus of £25 and £lO respectively. The resignation of the dredgemaster (Mr F. J. Rhodes) wa accepted. It was decided to instruct the. board’s solicitor to proceed against the N.Z. Roads, Ltd., to recover the stum of £BO dammed as being due for the harbour improvement rate.
