HAURAKI PLAINS UNION. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The Hauraki Plains Rugby Union’s . management committee met at NgaX tea on Tuesday evening, Mr J. Costello presiding over Messrs F. L. Wallis, • A. H. McClean, H. L. Berney, C, S, Foster, H. Dent, J. H. Nicholson, W. Thompson, L. Henwbod, T. White, J. : H. Carter, and W. Wyl.de, secretary. CONDUCT OF SPECTATORS. The Referees’ Association reported that a certain player had misconducted himself-on the line: during the progress of another match. It was decided that he be severely cautioned. TRANSFERS. H. Satchell, of the Coast Club, was granted a clearance to the Thames union. The Horowhenua Rugby District Council wrote asking if S. Silvery, of the Patetonga club, was a, senior player last ye;ar.
SCHOOL COMPETITION. A letter was received from the Paeroa Schools Rugby Union suggesting that the Hauraki Plains schools Vo rm a. sub-union and affiliate jvith a proposed Thames Valley Schools Rugby Union, sb, that a, team could be selected to-play matches with, other districts. The; secretary reported that he had handed the letter on fo the captain of the; Ngatea school team who had written to the other schools asking r - their opinion and suggestions. A letter was received from the. headmaster of the Kerepeehi school suggesting that matches be played after lunch, and that the manager of the teams be required .to produce a certificate that the players were bona fide members of the team. The secretary was instructed to notify schools that the time of playing matches was a matter for mutual arrangement, and .that in future a certificate from the manager or guarantee from the teacher would be required' that all players were eligible to be in the team.
MATCH WITH THAMES'. In reply to the union’s request for a percentage Of the gate receipts of the Birch Cup ma.tch the Thames Rugby- Union wrote advising that it could mot grant such a concession. The Thames Union suggested that the match' be played on June 19, instead of June 12, as previously arranged, and that the junior challenge match be played on the same da.te. The dates were adopted, and it was decided to suggest July 24 or August 7 for the match at Ngatea. Should these: dates cla h with Poland Cup matches, the Thames Valley delegates were to endeavour to, have the; competition altered. \ .
. A AND B MATCH. The " selectors submitted the two tea.ins2.for the match to be played at Ngajea to-morrow for the purpose of permitting the representative team to secure, combination. There would also be a similar junior game if it could be; arranged in time. The senior match would start at 2,30 p.m. and the juniors at 2 pm., and a collection would be taken up.
. REFEREES’ TICKETS. It was decided tha,t, all, active, members of the Rereree.s’ Association be given complimentary tickets to reprematches.
tenders. The tender of Mr H. L. Berney, £2 ss, fpr the transportation of the union •delegates to the Thames Valley Union •meetings, those of Messrs H. B. Ferrall and J. H. Nicholson at £3.10s for the transportation of the representatives to Thames, and tha,t of Mr J. H. Nicholson of £3 10s for the Paeroa trip and £4 10fe each for the. Wa,ihi and Te Aroha trips were accepted. PATETONGA FORFEIT. . The Patetonga club was granted an opportunity to play Waitakaruru at a later date, in lieu df the match that — was forfeited on account of lajck of transport. SCHOOL MATCHES. Mr J. H. Nicholson was voted £1 for the. transportation of the Kerepeehi school "team to inter-school matches.
